2.4.1 - Bypass blocks

The intent of this success criterion is to allow people who navigate sequentially through content more direct access to the primary content of the web page. Web pages and applications often have content that repeats across other pages or screens.

Ways to meet the criterion

Ensure a mechanism is available to bypass blocks of content that are repeated on multiple web pages.

Typical repeated blocks of content:

  • "You might be interested in” or "Related links"
  • navigation
  • main content
  • footer

Typical mechanism (links at the top of the page) to bypass blocks of content:

  • “Skip navigation"
